DANIEL JAMES KUNZ - Managing Director
Executive / Non-Independent Director

Mr. Daniel James Kunz, has more than 35 years of natural resource development experience in mineral exploration, development and operations.

Mr. Kunz co-founded MK Gold Company in 1988 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Morrison Knudsen Corp (now URS corporation (URS: NYSE)). In 1993, he led the IPO of MK Gold Company on the NASDAQ, a company with worldwide gold mining operations. From 1993 to 1997 he held the positions of President, CEO and Director.

From 1997 to 2004 Mr. Kunz was COO, CEO and ultimately President of Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (now Turquoise Hills Resources Ltd. (TRQ: NYSE)) where he oversaw the discovery of Oyu Tolgoi, one of the world's largest gold-copper deposits. The company also built, owned and operated an open pit copper mine in Myanmar, which was one of the lowest cost primary copper mines in the world. During his tenure with Ivanhoe as a member of the senior management and advisory team, Mr. Kunz oversaw substantial discoveries of gold and copper which resulted in the market cap of the company increasing from CAD 147 million and peaking at CAD 3.9 billion. During this period he also joined the board of Francisco Gold Corporation, which in 1999 discovered the El Sauzal gold project in Mexico. He was also the founding director of Chesapeake Gold Corporation, an exploration and development company with the advanced stage18.5 million ounce Metates gold project, which also had 526 million ounces of silver and 4.2 billion pounds of zinc in reserve/resources, and of Gunpoint Exploration Ltd (GUN:TSX.V) He stepped back from Ivanhoe in 2004 to found U.S. Geothermal Inc. (HTM: NYSE), a geothermal electrical producer. Mr. Kunz has also served on various industry boards including the U.S.-Mongolia Business Council and the U.S.-Kyrgyz Business Council.

Mr. Kunz holds a Masters of Business Administration, a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science, and an associate accounting degree. He is currently a member of the advisory board for the Engineering Department at the University of Montana Tech and in 1995 was named as a Distinguished Alumni of the University on Montana Tech.

Senior Independent Non-Executive Director

Mr. Adrian Coates has over 20 years' experience in the mining sector, latterly at HSBC Bank in London where he was Global Sector Head of Resources and Energy, Global Banking and Markets Division until 2008. He has also held senior roles in UBS, Warrior International, and Credit Suisse First Boston with a specialisation in the natural resources sector. Mr. Coates has served as an adviser to a number of leading mining companies, landmark deals include the IPO of Billiton, the IPO of Vedanta, adviser to Mittal Steel on the acquisition of Arcelor and to Corus on its acquisition by Tata Steel and adviser to BHP Billiton on its offer for Rio Tinto. He is the senior independent non-executive director of Polyus Gold International Ltd and a non-executive director and chairman of the audit committee of Regal Petroleum Plc. In 2007, Mr. Coates ranked in the Financial News' "Top 20 European Dealmakers".

Mr. Coates graduated from Cambridge University with a masters' degree in economics and has a Msc (MBA) from London Business School.

Dato’ Muthukumar Ayarpadde is the founder and Executive Chairman of MK Tron Holdings Sdn Bhd, a diverse industrial group with global interests in metals trading, processing and manufacturing and strategic investments in the oil and gas and resource sectors with an established presence in Malaysia, India, Australia, Korea and China.

Dato’ Muthukumar possesses more than 20 years of commodity trading experience in ferrous and non-ferrous metals (1993 to current). As the founder & owner of Malaysian Aluminium and Alloys Sdn Bhd (2003) and International Brass Industries Sdn Bhd (2005), he has grown the businesses to become one of the largest aluminium, alloy and copper smelting operations in Malaysia with an established series of industrial manufacturing facilities in India and South Korea.

Dato’ Muthukumar’s other businesses include, Diayo Die Casting Sdn Bhd (2009) and KMC Global Co. Pte Ltd (2011). Dato’ Muthukumar is also the joint venture partner of UMW Holdings Berhad of Malaysia for the manufacturing of seamless pipes and the ownership and operations of onshore rigs in India.

Independent Non-Executive Director

Mr. Kjeld Thygesen is a graduate of the University of Natal in South Africa and has 35 years experience as a resources analyst and fund manager. He joined African Selection Trust in 1970, researching and managing a portfolio of South African mining companies.

In 1972 he joined James Capel and Co. in London in 1972 as part of their gold and mining research team, and subsequently became manager of N M Rothschild & Sons’ Commodities and Natural Resources Department in 1979. In 1987 he became an executive director of N M Rothschild International Asset Management Limited, before co-founding Lion Resource Management Limited, a specialist investment manager in the mining and natural resources sector, in 1989. Mr. Thygesen was director of Ivanhoe Mines Ltd (2001-2011) and served as investment director for Resources Investment Trust PLC from 2002-2006, where he obtained a significant return for shareholders.

He is currently an investment manager with Global Resource Investment Trust plc.

Independent Non-Executive Director

Mr. Peter John Meers served with ANZ Bank from 1974 to 1999 in Australia and South East Asia holding a number of executive positions and portfolio management roles in mining, property and trade finance. In 2000 he joined the Hudson Investment Group Limited and was one of the principal promoters of Hudson Resources Limited's re-direction into minerals exploration and development. He became chairman of Hudson Resources Limited in 2006 and led a number successful mining and mineral investments and acquisitions whilst at the helm.

Mr. Meers has served at executive and board level for a number of mining companies including Australian Bauxite Ltd (ASX:ABZ) and currently holds directorships in Tiaro Coal Ltd (ASX:TCM).

He was awarded a Bachelor of Arts with a major in economics from the Macquarie University, Australia in 1975 and is a fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.

Dato' Lim is a senior partner in UHY Hacker Young London, with primary responsibility for client liaison and business development. He has been involved in the listing of several Malaysian businesses on AIM. He was previously involved in audits and business consultancy.

Dato' John Lim is the executive director for corporate finance and corporate affairs of Anglo-Eastern Plantations Plc, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange, with palm oil plantations in Indonesia and Malaysia. Prior to being appointed the executive director he was the senior independent non-executive director and was the chairman of the audit committee and was also the chairman of the nomination and corporate governance committee. He is currently a member of the audit committee, nomination and corporate governance committee and remuneration committee.

Dato' John Lim was on the board of Urbach Hacker Young International Limited as a director, and held this position from 2000 to mid-2014. He is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Ms. Heather Bestwick has been a legal and financial services professional for over 20 years where she has worked onshore in the City of London and offshore in the Cayman Islands and Jersey. In 1991 she joined 'City' firm Norton Rose, where she qualified as an English solicitor and over the next 8 years worked in their London and Athens offices. In 1999 she joined global offshore law firm Walkers in the Cayman Islands her practice encompassing investment funds, private equity, structured finance, secured lending and in 2003 she became a partner.

Ms. Bestwick moved to Jersey in 2007 to become Managing Partner of Walkers' Jersey office. She joined Jersey Finance in 2010 as technical director, and latterly deputy chief executive, leading the development of finance industry legislation. She has also sat on various financial industry trade body committees and is a founding member of Jersey Maritime International.

Ms. Bestwick is registered with the Jersey Financial Services Commission and is a member of the Channel Islands committee of the Association of Investment Companies.
